Q: How do I care for swimwear?

Rinse in fresh water immediately after every use - salt and chlorine can degrade your swimwear over time. Hand wash regularly with mild detergent. Never wring or twist, gently squeezing excess water. Dry in shade, never in direct sunlight or radiators which damage elastic and fade colours. And try to avoid rough surfaces that snag fabric.

Q: I want to swim in cold water but not in a wetsuit. How do I do this?

The most important thing to remember about swimming in cold water is to be safe: Know your limits, acclimatise, never go alone and inform yourself about tides and sea conditions. Accessorising your swim gear with our range of natural rubber booties, gloves and swim hat can take the edge off swimming in cold water but be conscious of the temperature versus the time you are spending in the water. At what water temperature do I need a wetsuit instead of a swimsuit?

This varies greatly by individual cold tolerance, acclimatisation, and swim duration. The general guidance is above 18°C, you can swim comfortably in swimsuits for moderate durations. Between 12-18°C, you should consider the duration of your swim, and towards the lower end our natural rubber Nieuwland and Kaia swimsuits can improve swim duration and comfort. Below 12°C, wetsuits become necessary if you are swimming for any length of time. Always acclimatise gradually, understand cold water shock and hypothermia risks, never swim alone in cold water, and listen to your body.
